BABYLON, N.Y. (AP) — Four people were charged Wednesday with concealing a human corpse and tampering with evidence in connection with the discovery of body parts in parks on Long Island. All four defendants pleaded not guilty to hindering prosecution, tampering with physical evidence and concealing a human corpse and were released without bail. The next day, a cadaver dog located the head, an arm and parts of two legs. Additional remains found Tuesday in nearby West Babylon and in a state park were from the same two people, police said. The four defendants were arrested after police executed a search warrant at the Amityville home that Wallace, Mackey and Brown share.

Douglass Mackey, who was 33 when he was convicted in March, was also ordered to pay a $15,000 fine. Mackey made podcast appearances and social media posts about those beliefs, prosecutors said. Prosecutors said that 99% of the texts received by that number were sent after Mackey first posted a deceptive Hillary advertisement from one of his social media accounts. Andrew Frisch, Mackey's attorney, told CNBC he remained "optimistic" about Mackey's prospects on appeal, which has not yet been taken up.

But they argued that Mr. Mackey committed a crime days before the election when, using the name Ricky Vaughn, he posted images targeting Black and Latino voters that claimed it was possible to vote by text message. The idea, prosecutors said, was to suppress votes for Mrs. Clinton. One of the images showed a Black woman and another one had a message in Spanish. A scientist who studies the airborne transmission of diseases, a master hula dancer and cultural preservationist, and the sitting U.S. poet laureate were among the 20 new recipients of the prestigious fellowships from the John D. and Catherine T. New research from Barclays LifeSkills found that 70% of Brits noticed language changes at work over the last five years, while 73% said they now communicated less formally. Gen Z, which is defined as people aged 18-24 for the purpose of Barclays' research, appears to be leading the shift. BEIJING — Secretary of State Antony Blinken told NBC News on Monday that his trip to Beijing marked an "important start" in stabilizing U.S. ties with China and that the countries should move on from the spy balloon incident that postponed his earlier visit. "That chapter should be closed," Blinken said in an interview before leaving Beijing, where he spent two days meeting with senior Chinese officials including President Xi Jinping. Blinken's trip to China, the first by a U.S. secretary of state since 2018, was postponed in February after the discovery of an alleged Chinese spy balloon over U.S. territory.

The new Barbie movie used so much pink paint on set that it caused an international shortage. Production designer Sarah Greenwood told Architectural Digest the "world ran out of pink." Greenwood told the magazine that constructing the set resulted in an international shortage of the fluorescent shade of Rosco paints. "The world ran out of pink," she told Architectural Digest. In one clip the Barbie Dreamhouse can be seen featuring a pink slide that descends into a pool, a pink shower, a pink bed, and lots of other pink accessories.

SAN FRANCISCO — Standing at the stoop of her childhood home — a slim but stately Victorian shaded by an evergreen pear tree — Lynette Mackey pulled up a photo of a family gathering from nearly 50 years ago. The men were all in suits, the women in skirts. Ms. Mackey, a teenager in red bell bottoms, stretched her arms wide and had a beaming smile. Soon after that time, in the 1960s and 1970s, Ms. Mackey watched the slow erasure of Black culture from the Fillmore District, once celebrated as “the Harlem of the West.” The jazz clubs that drew the likes of Billie Holiday and Duke Ellington disappeared, and so, too, did the soul food restaurants. In many cases, the old Victorian homes were torn down and replaced with housing projects, but the city kept Ms. Mackey’s home standing, and it has since been renovated into government-subsidized apartments.

Billionaire John Catsimatidis said in his youth he started out working 70 hours a week at a supermarket, but he worries Gen Z is "too busy on TikTok" to take similar steps. "That's one of the problems we are having in our country these days, the kids are busy playing TikTok," he told Daily Mail in an interview. However, Gen Z has indicated they're more concerned about work-life balance and less willing to put up with a toxic work culture. In 2022, a survey from the World Economic Forum found that about half of Gen Z workers would quit their job if it negatively impacted their work-life balance.
